The Price Held. The Currency Shrank.

The other currency in the allowance conversation, and the one with no exit. In March 2026, Fortnite's entry bundle kept its tag and dropped from 1,000 to 800 V-Bucks. When a currency has no cash-out, the unit count is the only price lever there is. This index benchmarks the post-change bundle across nine markets, daily, against the US.

Implied Cost in US Dollars

The same purchase, in dollars, today.

The US bar is the line. Below it, money buys more Fortnite. Above it, the identical bundle costs more, in a currency that never converts back.

The Index

Nine tags, one source, no exit.

Local price, converted at today's rate, measured against the US. Prices are read from the Xbox Store, where Epic publishes its full regional V-Bucks pricing, one public source every market can be checked against. A proxy for the Epic web store, disclosed as one.

Market Local Price (800 V-Bucks) Implied USD Today vs US Baseline V-Bucks-Implied FX Confidence

The rate at which the local bundle would cost exactly the US price. Above the market rate: the tag has drifted cheap. Below it: that market is overpaying. On this page the stakes are higher, because nothing about a V-Buck's value can ever be tested anywhere except at these counters.

Implied rate above market rate: the local price has drifted cheap in dollar terms.
Implied rate below market rate: players are overpaying relative to the US.

Same logic as The Economist's Big Mac Index, applied to V-Bucks.

Argentina: No Epic-set local price. Purchases are billed in USD. Argentine banks apply a 65-75% combined import tax and income-tax withholding.

Turkey: No verifiable primary-source storefront price.

Saudi Arabia & Indonesia: No purchasable V-Bucks price on the Xbox or Epic storefront for these regions. Likely excluded from local digital distribution or available only via USD billing.

All will be added when authoritative data is available.

Drift Over Time

Repricings are events. Everything between is drift.

Vertical jumps were Epic. Everything else was the market. The March 2026 bundle change is the line the whole page is benchmarked against. Between adjustments, the real dollar cost of 800 V-Bucks drifts with the exchange rate. This page captures that drift daily.

Context

How V-Bucks Compares in These Markets

Premium or discount vs US baseline for all six indexes, today.

V-Bucks UK (+4.5%) sits well below Robux UK (+20.9%). Epic prices V-Bucks regionally through the Xbox Store; Roblox uses its own web store. Different distribution channels produce different regional distortions even when the underlying economies are identical.

So What?

What This Means for Players

Translating the numbers into plain English.

V-Bucks cannot be cashed out, transferred, or refunded. The purchase is one-directional: real money becomes V-Bucks, once, in one direction. This makes the regional price gap more consequential than in a traditional currency market, because there is no exit. Whatever you paid, you paid.

If you topped up 800 V-Bucks in Singapore today, you paid roughly 40% less than a US player in real dollar terms. If you topped up in Mexico, you paid about 22% more. Epic sets these prices deliberately. This page tracks them daily so the gap is on record.

Section 05

Methodology

How this index is built.
  • US price: Epic Games web store. Confirmed live. Tagged Official.
  • Regional prices: Verified against Xbox Store listings for the Epic-published Fortnite 800 V-Bucks product. Tagged Verified proxy. Xbox Store is not the canonical Epic storefront. It is the best available substitute because Epic's own store is IP-geolocked to US pricing for non-US visitors.
  • Exchange rates: Frankfurter. Daily mid-market rates from 84 central banks, fetched on every page load.

It does not claim Epic is mispricing anything; regional tags are policy, and part of any gap is that policy working as intended alongside tax treatment. Nor is there an arbitrage. V-Bucks are locked to the redeeming account, cannot transfer, cannot withdraw. The table measures what markets are asked to pay, nothing more.

Before March 19, 2026, the entry-level pack was 1,000 V-Bucks for $8.99. Epic reduced that to 800 V-Bucks at the same price. The 1,000-unit SKU is discontinued. This index benchmarks 800 V-Bucks, the current entry-level bundle.

This is a publisher repricing event, not FX drift. Any movement in implied USD around March 19 reflects that step change, not currency movement.

  • The index compares the displayed storefront list price in each region.
  • US prices are VAT-exclusive. EU and UK prices are VAT-inclusive per consumer price-indication rules.
  • The index does not normalize taxes across jurisdictions. VAT-inclusive markets may carry a structural premium vs. the US pre-tax baseline. This is disclosed, not hidden.
Benchmark bundle: 800 V-Bucks, Epic web store. Baseline: United States at $9.99. FX: Frankfurter (api.frankfurter.dev) ยท daily mid-market rates from 84 central banks. Price table last audited: 17 July 2026. Verification status shown per row: Official (Roblox storefront), Confirmed (multiple independent sources), Reseller-reported (provisional, single distributor), Contested (sources diverge by 30%+ and require primary-source verification before treating as authoritative). Argentina and Turkey are excluded from the main table on structural grounds; see note in Section 01.

The V-Bucks Index is independent analysis by Llama & Griffin, not affiliated with or endorsed by Epic Games. The V-Bucks name refers to the product. Nothing on this page sells, resells, or advises on acquiring V-Bucks.

Section 06

The Reframe

A currency you can only enter.

V-Bucks cannot be cashed out, transferred, or refunded, and Epic's own terms state plainly that they are not money. The rates on this page are therefore the only exchange rates the currency will ever have: real money becomes V-Bucks, once, in one direction. When a currency has no exit, its issuer holds every lever, including the quietest one, which is how many units your money buys. In March 2026 that lever moved and the tag did not. This page exists so that next time, there is a record with a date on it.

This index tracks that gap daily. When FX moves, the gap widens or narrows. When Epic reprices a region, the gap steps. The March 2026 shrinkflation was a global step change: every market got 20% fewer V-Bucks for the same nominal price, but the relative gaps between markets: who pays more, who pays less: were set by the regional pricing structure, not the shrinkflation itself.
